THE CONSENSUS OF THE STORY TOLD OF A BATTLE THAT FORCED WILLIAM TO BUILD AN ABBEY TO APPEASE A POPE FOR SHAMING HIS PAPAL BANNER IN 1066.
1977 Managing Director (Doormere Ltd, Sheffield) Denby Street with Wicker Brass Foundry acquired from Sheffield City Council. Manufacturing and creating precast fireplaces, newly created ceramic logs and paints. Supplying film & television sets, with national trade supplies.
In 1977 Fred invented the first ever 24" Gas Log hole in the wall remote convector fire with bronze concealed valve housing.
Denby Street witnessed the manufacture of pronged radiant ceramic coal support's invented by Fred, supplied to all parts of the UK in times of the steam train as products were lost in carriages by British Rail in the railway sidings.
This same item never saw the light of day, after Fred, Margaret with daughters Vicky & Kate left Sheffield in 1982.
A decision to return to the century's old Waghorn root's in 1066 East Sussex.
In fact it was 35 years before these ceramics were equalled, as those Fred sent to British Coal's testing laboratories.
Fred and Margaret returned to the birthplace of his family at Salehurst Robertsbridge which has seen 5 generations within the church.
Freds father Leslie, a County Cricketer, left Robertsbridge with his wife Violet in 1935 after smashing his kneecap to take up a position of Cricket Coach on the borders of Sheffield towards Derbyshire, for them to retire back in Robertsbridge 1971.
Freds father Leslie was born in the Ostrich Hotel in Robertsbridge in July 1906. Here Freds great grandfather Eber James Waghorn was hotelier. Previously being innkeeper of the original thatched Eight Bells Inn (three combined cottages) set back on the hill above the bottom of Silver Hill near North Bridge, Robertsbridge.
Before further Eight Bells being established at Salehurst as well as Silver Hill.
Fred Waghorn has never suffered fools gladly. A hall mark of Joe Lacey and Harry Coffee before him. Fred and Joe worked for the countries largest companies :- Matthew Hall (London) Drake Skull (Manchester) Newman's (Sheffield)

On a meeting with Fred, Gregory Barker MP - Minister of State for Energy and Climate Change stated he was extremely excited about two of Fred Waghorns latest patents.
Master Chef of Great Britain
John Benson Smith a member of the Master Chefs of Great Britain, an association of professional chefs said to be the leader in there field. John gave the following appraisal of Stoveasy technology.
"It was of great interest and surprise to me when I was asked to give my appraisal of a woodburning stove, as my remit is that of Master Chef. Upon closer inspection, it became apparent that Stoven was powered by a special air funnel named Stoveasy patented by the award winning inventor Fred Waghorn"
"This unusual yet tactile product claims to utilise a stove's existing fire to radiate heat through its fire base into the ash pan area below, thus enabling cooking in times of emergency or entertainment"
"I would like to endorse these claims,as it was not only fun to cook below a bed of ash, but Stoveasy bathed the food in fresh air, extracting all cooking vapour, into the fires flames above, and leaving a taste of outside cuisine for all to enjoy"
"It is of my opinion that any product saving energy in times of emergency, while being good primitive cooking fun is a real winner"
2018 Fred's latest patented launch is the FIREBED by FRED Open Log Burning Basket.
The same Stoveasy fire cooking for those who hate stoves.
Fred Waghorn has also won two patented awards for Aromatherapy. Including Accessory of the Year.
